Very nice composition :) One of those "life soundtracks"... a piece that will forever accompany your journey - may it dreamy, or "real". A shard of a conflicting reality, war-torn dimensions, and this is only the beginning.
Looking forward to hearing more from you :3

Thank you very much for your awesome comment! Very insightful and thought-provoking. I also would like to thank you for taking the time to listen to my work! I am very grateful for that!
I have several other tracks I hope to upload soon so keep an ear out!=)

Very interesting composition. :3
It's a bit surprising for me that you almost hit the 5 minutes mark, and you still managed to let it sound fresh with incredible depth and atmosphere. It's like an abstract ocean of darkness, the oscillating nature of the waves and the gentle breeze caressing the black waters. Old and new together, harmoniously in an almost incomprehensible manner that clearly goes beyond words.
Decoding the very essence of sound.

Insanctuary responds:

Indeed. I love how you are able to read my music so well. Old and new is exactly what I was emitting through my fingers as I placed each individual note to aggregate this lovely abstract puzzle. I wanted to reflect off of life, determination, darkness, isolation, and that light that shines through the darkness of an endless tunnel.

Thank you for listening, Claudio Audio. :D

Some parts sound a bit too empty at this stage of development. Only drums sections will never achieve the same depth as with an ensemble, being it electronic or symphonic. For the lyrics I can't complain, but what about "Watch me flying close to the sun, yeah"? It's shorter and flows better. ;)
Overall, I like the idea and there's plenty of room for improvement. More layers, more stuff, and even 20 minutes of this would still sound awesome.

RobinDB responds:

Thanks for reviewing. I know that second bit of the lyrics had to be kind of crammed in there, but the wording was what I wanted. It's not just close to the sun, it's too close, more meaning and whatnot. It's sort of saying like, trying too hard for your own good, ya know what I mean? Anyway, I think over time I'll figure out more parts I can work into the song, sometimes I get too set on just two or three pieces and lose space for other parts, haha. Hopefully I can finish it soon.

First of all, congrats on your Best of the Week! :D
It's an interesting composition, somewhat varied, deep and expressive. Sound-wise, it's like a mix of different influences ranging from space rock to folk, and they all blend pretty well. Personally, I would only raise up the drums a bit, making them clearer (EQ) and add a bit more layers to the main pads, maybe some rhythmic/sequenced synths. Otherwise, don't bother editing it as it sounds great even without my suggestions, coming straight from my imagination. :3
Very well done and welcome to the Ambient territory

Halindir responds:

Thank you KKSliderman!
I agree with the drums, I should not have been so eager with the reverb. I've never really liked working with rhythmic/sequenced synths, but I'm sure it could've added some extra texture to the piece. But as you say, it stands well enough on its feet as it is.

Thanks again :)

A mix of old and new... couldn't sound any better. :3
I initially thought my vocals could have been much better, but I'm actually liking this to the point I think it sounds soundtrack-like. Good job on nailing that, bro ^^

Insanctuary responds:

Thankyou. You did a swell job, my friend. Haha.

Lol! I didn't know this track! Was this during our spammy little contest we had some time ago?
Mmmmh.... Can't remember.
KKS

Insanctuary responds:

Yes. Lol.

It has a nice flow and the possible mistakes I hear are pretty subtle and of very little relevance to me. Speaking of which, the drum fill every 16 bars (I believe) feels too distorted and the subsequent crash is buried within the mix, totally killing the trebles. You should try sidechaining it ;)
Other than that, it doesn't feel too repetitive, nor too obsessive. It's actually pretty chill for being a House track, and it's definitely an ear candy. ^^
KKS

RobinDB responds:

Haha thanks. The problem with the drum fill is that I can't find a VST with good tom drums. The drum VST I usually use has toms that sound a lot like the kick drum. lol. I could give sidechaining a go though. Glad you liked it. :D

So, it's finally out :3
I'll definitely do my best to remix this track, as it sounds gorgeous and well-layered. I have no complaints about anything, the mastering is great and the whole structure feels alive and vibrant, as if it breathes its own oxygen made of notes and sounds.
Great track. I just made a new one too, haha ^^

YakovlevArt responds:

Oh man- you have such a way with words when it comes to describing a track. It really makes me happy to see how you review my tracks, becasue it's like shining a different light on them =]
I can't wait for the remix either, you'll have to upload one the I will remix in return..

Cool loop, bro. XD
It's definitely video game sounding, and it's definitely looping. It could well work in a pixel-looking sidescrolling shooter, very popular here.
KKS

RobinDB responds:

Haha thanks. :D Honestly I'm a little surprised it's become so popular in this section.

A New World

This is quite a unique track I must say, which leaves me plenty of space to write on.

Pros:
+ Variety - Loads and loads of patterns, instruments and layers make this track really shine, and it's definitely one of the main strengths. From the horn-o-rama bravado around the main theme, to the ethnic build-up after the second minute, not to mention the retro-like pop-driven beat reminiscent of those old TV series from the 80's and early 90's.
+ Mastering - Another spot-on trait that formidably defines this track. The subtle reverb on almost every instrument delivers one of the most organic experiences I've ever witnessed, and the realism of the samples you used is indeed impressive. Every frequency is where it needs to be, just like a gear that contributes to the bigger whole. A symbiosis of sounds, functionally working together as one.
+ Style - Very neat and crisp, and a nice surprise for me, as I'm used to completely different atmospheres. Although the main theme or melody seems to repeat almost relentlessly, the intricate texture of solos and patterns compensate this minor flaw, as it's a 4-minute orchestra-fused-with-retro-pop attack that you'll hardly forget.

And now the cons:
- Volume - I can't say that most of your flute and brass attacks feel a bit unnecessary, because it's definitely not the case and these instrument helps to give an extra boost to the mix. However, I feel that some parts are a little too loud to allow anyone to truly enjoy this piece. It constantly changes pace, and the quieter parts feel incredibly "empty" after a very dynamic strings-driven bridge. Especially the guitar-bass only part at the beginning or the change after the climax during the middle. I'm not saying the overall volume is unevenly distributed nor some transition sound too abrupt, but I feel it still needs some polish and balance. The diminuendo around 2:43-2:44 feels a bit forced and unnatural, in terms of realism.

In conclusion, it's quite a refreshing experience and I really enjoyed listening to it all the way through, unconsciously looping it for over 25 minutes since I first started writing this. It's got stuck in my head now. XD
Well done my friend, hope you make more uplifting, rich tracks like this fine example of adventurous, cinematic music.

Step responds:

Wow, thanks a lot man. I haven't received any reviews in a while so it's nice to get one after so long.

"This is quite a unique track I must say, which leaves me plenty of space to write on."

Uniqueness was something that I tried to achieve, so that's good to hear!

"Pros:
+ Variety - Loads and loads of patterns, instruments and layers make this track really shine, and it's definitely one of the main strengths."

Yeah, this song does have a tonne of patterns. My newest has nearly 130 patterns and it's just 3 minutes long so far :P.

"From the horn-o-rama bravado around the main theme,"

Haha, those horns took me AGES to get right. FINALLY, someone acknowledged them!

"to the ethnic build-up after the second minute,"

That also took a while. You're mentioning a lot of details which I worked hard on. I appreciate it! :3

"not to mention the retro-like pop-driven beat reminiscent of those old TV series from the 80's and early 90's."

Ironically I never saw any of those so I can't really relate, even though everyone's saying this reminds them of anything from the 70's, 80's and 90's :P.

"+ Mastering - Another spot-on trait that formidably defines this track. The subtle reverb on almost every instrument delivers one of the most organic experiences I've ever witnessed, and the realism of the samples you used is indeed impressive."

Wow thanks! A lot of the samples here are free and most of the free ones are soundfonts, so I guess it just goes to show what you can achieve with free stuff!

"Every frequency is where it needs to be, just like a gear that contributes to the bigger whole. A symbiosis of sounds, functionally working together as one."

Heh, I'm glad I nailed it in that department!

"+ Style - Very neat and crisp, and a nice surprise for me, as I'm used to completely different atmospheres. Orchestra fused with retro pop. I like the sound of that :3.

Glad you liked the style!

"And now the cons:
- Volume - I can't say that most of your flute and brass attacks feel a bit unnecessary, because it's definitely not the case and these instrument helps to give an extra boost to the mix."

Yeah I probably wouldn't want to be removing those, a lot of people seemed to like them :P.

"However, I feel that some parts are a little too loud to allow anyone to truly enjoy this piece. It constantly changes pace, and the quieter parts feel incredibly "empty" after a very dynamic strings-driven bridge. Especially the guitar-bass only part at the beginning or the change after the climax during the middle. Nobody ever mentioned that before, but damn, now that you mentioned it, I see exactly what you mean. It's true I didn't put in as much work in the less intense parts, especially the guitar part. I spent a lot of my time trying to get the louder parts like the climax at the end to sound right, so I understand why you say the other parts sound empty.

"The diminuendo around 2:43-2:44 feels a bit forced and unnatural, in terms of realism."

There's no diminuendo there. That's a ritenuto :P.

Although yeah if you're talking about the change in tempo, then I'm really surprised you noticed that since it's so subtle. To this day I still don't get why I added that there haha.

"In conclusion, it's quite a refreshing experience and I really enjoyed listening to it all the way through,"

Awesome!

"unconsciously looping it for over 25 minutes since I first started writing this. It's got stuck in my head now. XD"

Sorry :3.

"Well done my friend, hope you make more uplifting, rich tracks like this fine example of adventurous, cinematic music."

Thanks a lot for the great review! You pointed out details which most people didn't even notice. Much appreciated!

Fooling around. A lot.
